2007-11-01: SFN, Site Redesign, Bio-signals, Licenses, and New Systems
Welcome to another month at Clever Sys.! As you may have noticed, we've revamped the website in preparation for the annual Society for Neuroscience meeting, which will be held this weekend (Nov. 3–7) in San Diego, California. Bio-signal Integration
First, we've improved functionality of bio-signal integration. Now, in addition to our standard video acquisition, you can monitor bio-signals like EEG, EKG, or EMG readings, blood pressure, and neuron-firing data. Our software integration will provide plots of these data synchronized with video playback.
License Options
Our new dongle license key option allows you to install your software license(s) on multiple computers. If you only have a single license, you can use the dongle key option to run data acquisition on one computer, and data analysis on another computer. We hope this will provide our users with greater flexibility in their analyses.
New Software
We're introducing several new products this month:
RackScan is a child of our HomeCageScan suite, and allows home-cage monitoring of cages on a rack. Dedicated cameras and lighting systems (including infrared) will allow continuous monitoring of multiple cages. We can work with you to design a system that will fit your racks, so if you're interested in home-cage monitoring, be sure to check out RackScan.
RunwayScan is a gait analysis program similar to our TreadScan system. RunwayScan utilizes a stationary, clear-bottomed walkway, as opposed to a treadmill. If you are interested in gait analysis but would prefer voluntary locomotion, try RunwayScan.
SonoScan is a specialized bio-signal program for recording and analysis of ultrasonic vocalization signals, such as those produced by bats. SonoScan can be integrated with our behavioral recognition software and results can be synchronized with video data.
MobileScan is the world's first portable real-time behavior analysis system. Instead of the bulky desktop CPUs that have previously been required to achieve the processing power and hardware configuration necessary for high-throughput analysis, MobileScan can be run on a laptop computer. Need to show your data to your PI? Tired of moving a heavy desktop from room to room? MobileScan makes it easy to take your data with you.
TopScan Lite is a basic version of our popular TopScan software. Priced right at only USD$3,450, it's the most affordable video tracking software available on the market today. TopScan Lite will allow single-animal tracking using the center-of-mass method. TopScan Lite can provide valuable results in tasks where fine motor detection is not required, such as open-field, place-preference, Morris water maze, and other maze tasks. If you need a simple video tracking system, consider TopScan Lite.
